How it works
The process of commissioning a new website using Site Maker
- Briefing
The "Request a website" form on this site will gather from you the key details that form a brief. You will need to include as much information as you can about your project so that Gravitate can start their process.
It is most helpful if you have a good understanding of the purpose of the website, its audience and most importantly the content to be presented on the website.
Good imagery is ideal, and any branding guidelines, project documentation or other resources will be helpful for a good understanding of your project. - Reverse Brief
Gravitate will book a meeting with you to clarify their understanding of the project, so that they can provide an accurate scope and quote for the work. - Statement of Work
Gravitate's statement of work describes the scope of work to be completed, inclusions and exclusions, and gives a high level timeline for the delivery of the project. By signing this document, the project can commence. - Design Phase
Gravitate will provide designs for your site for you to approve. - Build Phase
A copy of the Site Maker "master" will be taken and modified to fit your project by Gravitates development team. - Delivery
You will be provided with access to a test website where you must review and test the functioning website, edit content and ensure the site is in a state fit to launch.
Issues are logged and managed through a tracking tool, and when all issues are resolved your project will be ready to launch. - Go live!

Looks fab but it’s still an investment I’d need to carefully consider. Is there support to help me if I am not sure if this is right for us?Yes, depending on what it is you would like to ask about there are a number of people who can help. For Foundation North kaimahi, you can reach out to the Comms team first. The Comms team and the Shared Services team hold the relationship with Gravitate and have launched several great website projects including this one! You can also contact Gravitate directly, either by filling in the form on this website to start a project or find their contact details on their website. Make sure you let them know that you're thinking about making your project using the Foundation's Site Maker so they know how to best look after your queries.

Will the website ‘belong to us’ once the website is built and paid for?The website is yours and will be publicly available once it's live for as long as you pay for hosting with Gravitate. You will have your own site and CMS (Content Management System) seperate from any other site. All your content is owned by you under standard NZ copyright. Find out more about Copyright in New Zealand on the New Zealand Intellectual Property Office website. If you want to move your website elsewhere for another company to host, Gravitate will allow that but it will take some work. Note that web service providers very rarely support another organisation's work.
